It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years since the devastating terrorists attacks rocked our entire country, especially those in New York, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, and everyone personally connected to the 4 planes that were hijacked that morning. On the morning of September 11, 2001 we lost nearly 3,000 Americans including 343 firefighters who showed the ultimate form of heroism by entering the twin towers to help total strangers only to not make it out alive. Far to often it seems that we take life in America for granted, I do believe that over the past 10 years we as Americans have obtained a better understanding as to what it really means to be an American. To stand together, help your neighbor, maintain strong beliefs, and never forget. There are certain organizations in the United States that seem to hold these values very high. Fire departments, in my opinion, are one of these groups. There is a sense of “brotherhood” involved when joining a fire department. Whenever a “brother” is involved in a tragedy it is felt nationwide. The 10 year anniversary of the attacks on our country on Sept. 11, 2001 this feeling was just as great as it was that horrific day 10 years ago. Although the events of that day were absolutely horrible we, as a country, have pushed through, grown closer, and become stronger. Our hearts go out to all who lost their life in the towers, in the planes, on the ground, and especially to those heroes who ran in to help while everyone else was running out and to the families of all the victims. We will never forget.
